Schloss Elmau was originally build from 1914-1916 by the Philosopher and best-selliong author Dr. Johannes Mueller, largely destroyed by a fire in 2005 and rebuild from 2006-2007 by his grandson Dietmar Mueller-Elmau in new grandeur as a 5* Luxury Spa & Cultural Hideaway and Member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The Hideway has since been rated as one of the best resorts in the world, and has been the first hotel ever to host two G7 Summits (2015 and 2022). The Japanese word IKIGAI can be translated as “What makes life worth living” and represents the quest for a meaningful and fulfilling life. This mindset guides the restaurant’s culinary direction, as well as its treatment of both employees and guests. The philosophy promotes appreciation, mindfulness, and a harmonious atmosphere. Executive Chef Christoph Rainer has for many years been at the helm of two-starred casual fine dining restaurant, which since 2024 bears the name IKIGAI.

International & Alpine High Cuisine La Salle is the perfect restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner for four generations.
