Located in the historic center of Belém, the Palácio do Governador - Lisbon Hotel & Spa has 60 rooms, all unique, in one of the capital’s cultural hubs. The building was constructed within the former home of the Governor of the Belém Tower, carefully restored over Roman ruins dating from the 1st to 5th centuries, and offers an authentic, palatial experience.

The reception is located in the old chapel, and its historic features extend over the hotel’s five floors, with vaulted ceilings and original tiles dating from the 15th century. The entrance is through the courtyard, where you will find old Roman tanks or ‘cetarias’ from the former ‘garum’ fish sauce factory. Redecorated in 2024 by acclaimed interior designer Nini Andrade da Silva, the renovated Governor’s Palace has a timeless feel, where the past blends with the present and invites you to embrace the future.

The Palácio do Governador is close to the River Tagus and next door to several historical national monuments. It’s the natural choice for a stay in Lisbon, close to everything from culture to leisure, but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. The south-facing terraces offer views over the swimming pool, the Belém Tower and the River Tagus, creating a haven of serenity.
