Wine Journeys in Spain

Bespoke journeys through Spain’s wine regions — from the historic cellars of Rioja to the Atlantic vineyards of Galicia and the legendary wineries of Andalusia.

Map of Spain’s wine regions

Spain reveals itself through wine as a journey among historic cellars, avant-garde architecture, family-owned wineries, vineyards on high plateaus, the mountain terraces of Catalonia and green Atlantic valleys.

Panorama Assistance Service organises bespoke wine journeys throughout Spain: winery and vineyard visits, private and group tastings, gastronomic lunches, masterclasses, special events and multi-day itineraries.

For every programme, the wineries, visit format and additional services are selected individually — taking into account the region, dates, party composition, trip duration and desired level of privacy. Specific estates and visiting arrangements are confirmed separately.

A programme may last several hours, a full day or several days. When required, the itinerary can include a private chauffeured vehicle, private guide, interpreter, gastronomic experiences and accommodation at a premium hotel, historic estate or winery hotel.

Wine Regions

Spain’s Key Wine Regions

Wine map of Rioja

La Rioja · País Vasco

Rioja

Historic wineries, architecture and Tempranillo wines

Rioja is Spain’s best-known wine destination and one of its finest regions both for a first introduction to Spanish wine and for more in-depth tastings of collectible wines.

The region comprises Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental. An itinerary may pass through Haro, Laguardia, Elciego and Logroño, combining traditional cellars, contemporary architectural landmarks, vineyards and gastronomic restaurants.

A possible programme includes cellar visits, tastings of young and aged wines, Reserva, Gran Reserva and selected vintages, a professional masterclass and lunch at a winery or regional restaurant.

The journey can be arranged for one, two or three days, with accommodation at a design-led winery hotel, historic estate or premium hotel.

Castilla y León

Ribera del Duero

The vineyards of the Duero Valley and full-bodied Tinto Fino wines

Ribera del Duero is one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. Its vineyards lie on a high plateau along the Duero River, where significant differences between daytime and night-time temperatures produce powerful, structured wines capable of long ageing.

The region’s principal grape variety is Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo.

An itinerary may connect Peñafiel, Roa, Aranda de Duero and other historic and contemporary wine centres. The programme can include vineyard and cellar visits, a comparative tasting of young wines, Crianza, Reserva and collectible vintages, a gastronomic lunch and a masterclass.

The wine experience can be complemented by a visit to Peñafiel Castle and a cultural programme. Itineraries can conveniently begin in Madrid, Valladolid or Burgos.

Priorat

Mountain terroirs, slate soils and intimate wine routes

Priorat is a small, prestigious region of Catalonia known for its steep terraced vineyards and distinctive llicorella slate soils.

The region produces concentrated, mineral wines, primarily from Garnacha and Cariñena. Short distances between estates make it possible to create intimate programmes featuring vineyard visits, an introduction to the terroir, tastings and a gastronomic lunch.

A Priorat itinerary can be combined with neighbouring Montsant, Tarragona, Barcelona and the historic Cartoixa d’Escaladei.

The programme may include a meeting with a winemaker, a masterclass, a tasting of single-vineyard wines and a stay at a winery hotel or country estate, subject to availability.

Wine map of Rías Baixas

Galicia

Rías Baixas

Albariño, Atlantic landscapes and Galician cuisine

Rías Baixas is Spain’s leading destination for discovering fresh, aromatic white wines made from Albariño.

The Atlantic climate, proximity to the ocean and green valleys reveal a completely different side of Spanish wine. The region is especially rewarding when paired with fish, seafood and traditional Galician cuisine.

The programme may include visits to vineyards and a historic pazo, a private Albariño tasting, a gastronomic lunch with wine pairings and a walk along the coast.

The itinerary can be complemented by a boat trip or visits to Vigo, Pontevedra, Cambados or Santiago de Compostela.

Penedès

Mediterranean vineyards and the tradition of sparkling wine

Penedès is one of Catalonia’s principal wine regions and the historic centre of Spanish sparkling-wine production.

Here, guests can discover still white, red and rosé wines, as well as the traditional-method production of Cava and Corpinnat.

The programme can include vineyard and cellar visits, a tasting of aged sparkling wines, a masterclass and a gastronomic lunch at a wine estate.

Thanks to its proximity to Barcelona, the region is suitable both for a one-day excursion and for a two- or three-day journey combined with Tarragona and the coast.

Wine map of Jerez

Andalucía

Jerez

Historic soleras, Sherry and Andalusian cuisine

Jerez offers an entirely different wine experience: historic wineries, white albariza soils, the criaderas y solera ageing system and a broad spectrum of Sherry styles.

The principal route runs between Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

The programme can include a private visit to a historic winery, an introduction to the solera system and a tasting of Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez.

The wine programme pairs naturally with Cádiz, Seville, the Atlantic coast, tapas, seafood and the cultural routes of Andalusia.

Wine map of Rueda

Castilla y León

Rueda

Verdejo, historic cellars and the white wines of Castilla y León

Rueda is Spain’s leading region for white-wine production and one of the key destinations for discovering Verdejo.

The region’s wines are distinguished by their freshness, vibrant acidity and fruity and herbal aromas. Alongside modern winery complexes, Rueda has preserved historic underground cellars.

The programme may include a walk through the vineyards, cellar visits, a tasting of different Verdejo styles, a private masterclass and a gastronomic lunch.

Rueda can be arranged as a standalone journey or combined with Ribera del Duero, Toro, Valladolid and other destinations in Castilla y León.
