Built in the neo-Gothic style as the summer residence of Colonel and Mayor of Lugano, Giacomo Luvini-Perseghini, in the early 19th century, it then underwent Baroque-influenced alterations around the early 20th century, when the architectural remains of the family home were incorporated into the villa in Sassa. In particular, the portal, the wroughtiron railings of the balconies, and the stone balustrades of the stairs in the corner located at the west end of the garden.
